St. Andrew’s Episcopal School seeks an imaginative, dynamic, and innovative educator to become the Extended Day Teacher to begin August 17th, 2020. In the Lower School, the Extended Day Teacher collaborates with the Extended Day faculty in designing and implementing the program, and reports to the Extended Day Director. This is a great opportunity for an educator with vision, energy, and a great love of children. The Extended Day Teacher a part-time teaching position that is contracted from 2:00-6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Preference will be given to applicants that have a keen understanding of the developmental needs of young students, show a willingness to work both independently, flexibly and collaboratively with other colleagues, and actively embrace the educational philosophy that underlies the school.

This exciting opportunity will require a faculty member who can work collaboratively with fellow teachers and administrators, while also possessing the confidence and knowledge to be a curricular leader. Preference will be given to candidates with a 90-hour early childhood certification or a degree in education with an emphasis on early childhood education and/or special education.
Duties and Responsibilities
Possess education and experience appropriate to age and ability level of the students
Supervise and care for children ages 2-5 years old in a variety of settings
Collaborate constructively with colleagues
Lead activities that give children opportunities to learn and play
Plan a curriculum that develops on the themes, concepts, and expectations of the day school program
Ensure a well-balanced program by preparing daily lesson plans and long-term schedules of activities
Communicate effectively both verbally and electronically with parents about their child’s day
Follow established operating procedures at all times, including roster management and sign-in and sign-out procedures
Maintain a clean, safe environment and leave the area in an orderly fashion upon departure
Attend staff meetings, school functions, and in-house training sessions as required
Support the spirit of our Episcopal school
Perform other duties as assigned
