Location: Southeast Department: IU Southeast School of Education Position Announcement: The School of Education invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor to teach undergraduate and graduate Special Education in the field of mild interventions (Learning Disability, Emotional Disability, Cognitive Disability, mild/moderate) beginning in January 2020. IU Southeast is one of eight student centered campuses of Indiana University. Located in New Albany, about 15 minutes from Louisville, Kentucky, the community engaged campus has approximately 6000 students. Basic Qualifications: Required Qualifications include: Preference will be given to candidates who: demonstrate leadership skills; demonstrate excellence in P-12 teaching; demonstrate a wide range of technology skills in teaching and in application to P-12 learning have experience teaching in an inclusion setting; have knowledge about and experiences with various disabilities as identified under IDEA; have additional coursework and/or experience in one of more of the following areas: Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Multicultural Education, Gifted Education, or Early Childhood Education; demonstrate excellence in teaching at the university level or with adult learners; have P-12 teaching experience in culturally and linguistically diverse settings; demonstrate service to the community and membership and participation in professional organizations. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, the position requires advising Special Education candidates and liaison responsibilities with partnership schools; delivering courses through hybrid, online and face-to-face modalities; supervising candidates in field and clinical work; active participation in the School of Education and university activities {planning, curriculum development, assessment design and data collection for CAEP, committee work}; a commitment to personal and student scholarly work; building partnerships with P-12 schools; and inclusion of diversity in curriculum and instruction. All course work in the School of Education is required to integrate diversity, technology and national and state standards, including CEC standards. Serving as the coordinator in the Special Education program is expected.
