The Cyert Center was founded in 1971 by working parents at Carnegie Mellon University, for working parents. The Cyert Center now serves 180 children in two locations. In 2017, the program expanded into a second location at 6555 Penn Avenue in response to the demand and satisfaction of employees of the university. The Director oversees both locations with the Director's office located on campus at the Morewood location.

Our program revolves around valuing the development of relationships, open dialogue, and collaboration, which we believe supports the development of strong relationships between all members of this community--children, parents, and educators and the communities beyond these walls
Our center is looking to hire multiple Early Childhood Aide(s) for both of our locations.
The Early Childcare Aides are committed to the Center's priority of meeting children's needs, health & safety, and providing engaging activities for the children. Their role is to support classroom educators in their daily work with children and families. This position works under the direction of an Educational Coordinator, the Assistant Director, and the classroom team to support the education and care for young children and functioning of the classroom.
The group of children the Early Childhood Aides may work wit include: Infants, Toddlers, preschool or prek/kindergarten. The Cyert Center staff will determine the Aide's site and classroom placement.
Hours/Shifts Available for both locations: 3:00-6:00pm or 1:00-6:00pm
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Supports the children and educators during the normal flow-of-the-day routines (snack/lunch prep, diapering, bathroom, clean-up, playground supervision, nap)
- Helps maintain the Center's safety and sanitation standards, adhering to the Department of Human Services licensing regulations and NAEYC accreditation guidelines
- Helps to maintain the Center environment (e.g. sweeping up after meals, reorganizing toys, cleaning up the changing area, etc.)
- Demonstrates awareness of Developmentally Appropriate Practice, and supports a cohesive program that communicates the Center's philosophy
- Accountable for the safety of children while at the Center, on the playground, and on walks and field trips; Informs Educational Coordinator when an incident occurs pertaining to the welfare of the staff and children
- Supports and assists the educators during their daily work with children and families, demonstrating engagement and enthusiasm in their work
- Speaks with children in a friendly, positive, and respectful manner; helps children during times of transition and basic need; provides one-on-one time with children/infants

Qualifications:
- Education/Training: High School or GED required. Candidates with or actively pursuing a bachelor's degree early childhood education, elementary education, special education or psychology preferred.
- Experience: 0-1 years of demonstrated and verifiable experience working with young children
