The Department of Counseling and Human Services (CSHS) at East Tennessee State University is excited to welcome a student-centered teacher/scholar to join our team as a 9-month tenure track assistant professor in Human Services. Throughout the hiring process, we look for evidence of candidates' abilities to contribute to collegiality and goodwill, with a commitment to promoting inclusive academic cultures characterized by psychological safety, transparency, peer support, and empowerment of the individual. Expectations include teaching Human Services undergraduate-level courses, graduate teaching in the Individual, Family, and Community Sciences program (online teaching is expected), robust research and scholarly activities, advisement and mentoring, program service and establishing positive relationships with human service organizations, and appropriate service to the department, college, university, and community. The successful candidate will join us in our mission to prepare competent and caring professionals to work in a range of settings (profit and non-profit agencies, PK-12 schools, higher education, elder care programs, etc.) serving clients across the lifespan and from a variety of backgrounds; to contribute to the knowledge base in the social/behavioral sciences, human development, counseling, and human services; and to provide service to the counseling and human service professions, the Clemmer College, East Tennessee State University, and the community.

The CSHS department presently consists of 15 faculty members, a Director of field instruction, and two support staff members. The Department houses the undergraduate degree in Human Services (HS); a graduate degree in Individual, Family, and Community Sciences (IFCS) (pending THEC approval); a graduate degree in Counseling (school counseling and mental health counseling concentrations); a graduate certificate in Nature-Based Therapy; and three minors in Trauma and Resilience, Family Studies, and Human Development and Learning. The HS Program is offered online and on-ground and the IFCS program is offered online. Programs are accredited by Council for Standards in Human Services Education (CSHSE) and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Clemmer College began as a college of education and evolved to encompass teaching and learning, physical and mental well-being, and leadership. Earned doctorate in Human Services, Human Development, Human Ecology, Child and Family Studies, or a social/behavioral science-related field.
