The Early Interventionist will provide direct developmental services through the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS) to a.) children (ages birth to 36 months) and families who are eligible for IDEA Part C services and b.) children who are eligible for IDEA Part B services until the start of the school year following the child's 4th birthday. Services are provided to children and families in home-based and inclusive childcare settings in the counties of Carter, Greene, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, and Washington. The Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS) is a program that provides services to infants, toddlers, and young children who have disabilities or other developmental delays. The TEIS program is a critically important program to support young children and their families to reach optimal development.
All staff employed by ETSU Expanding Horizons Early Intervention Resource Agency (EIRA) are informed about the Rights of Infants and Toddlers under Part C of IDEA and share this information with families in a positive manner. All ETSU Expanding Horizons staff adhere to the TEIS Operations Manual and all updates on policies and procedures pertaining to providers of home/community-based developmental therapy under the auspices of the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS) and the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD).

Required Qualifications:
BS or BA in early childhood special education, early childhood education, child and family studies (child development), early intervention, deaf education or visual disabilities, special education K-12, elementary education, communication disorders, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy and/or related field. (Related field can include, but is not limited to, a degree in social work, nursing, psychology, education administration, or sociology.)
Related field degrees require a minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families. This requirement does not apply to Grantee staff who provided these services prior to July 1, 2014.
