St. Ambrose University has an immediate opening for Director of the Children's Campus, a comprehensive early childhood program for children from the ages of 6 weeks to 6-years-old, with or without disabilities, as well as educational experiences and resources for families. The Children's Campus also serves a laboratory school for the School of Education Early Childhood Education teacher preparation program. The successful candidate will be assigned overall administrative responsibility for the operation of the Children's Campus to provide supervision of teaching and support staff, with responsibility to select, train, evaluate, and terminate employees. The individual will serve as liaison between Children's Campus and the SAU School of Education programs of teacher preparation as well as be responsible for preparation of budget for Children's Campus and monitoring spending. Additional duties will include: marketing of programs housed within the children's campus, monitoring overall curriculum, seeking out public and private funding opportunities, liaison with community and state agencies, maintaining an appropriate recording system for the State of Iowa and the federal government. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with endorsement in special education and sufficient combination of education, experience, and training to meet the Iowa DHS center director requirements; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of five years experience as director or lead teacher in an early childhood education center or program. Evidence of familiarity with the most current research and practice in early childhood education. Experience in recruitment and training of early childhood staff.
