Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Masterâ™s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from an accredited institution.
2. Three years of experience teaching young children (birth â“ age 8) in a licensed early childhood
3. Experience with use of computer-based instruction, such as: distance learning, learning management
software (Blackboard, Desire2Learn, Angel, etc.), and/or modularized courseware. Ability to apply
such knowledge to teaching.
4. Evidence of current CA/NR (child abuse and neglect) clearance from Michigan Department of Human
Services or ability to obtain prior to hire.
5. Must be able to pass a national criminal background check (fingerprint), per the State of Michigan,
prior to hire.
6. Evidence of continuing professional development in early childhood and/or special education, and

8. Must be able to lift 50 pounds (size of a pre-school child).

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelorâ™s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Child Development from an accredited institution.
2. Recent teaching experience in the early childhood field at the college level (minimum of 5 classes within the past 3 years).
3. Two years full-time experience in an administrative position in a licensed early childhood setting.
4. Graduate coursework in special education and/or elementary education.
Unique Aspects of Job:
Fast-paced environment interacting with multi-cultural students with varied educational backgrounds. This position is in a program that receives funding from the Perkins grant; therefore, incumbents must maintain necessary credentials as a condition of employment. The faculty in this position will be required to teach multiple online and/or hybrid courses, and must be willing to travel to extension sites or alternate locations for hybrid courses and site visits.
|Physical Requirements/Working Conditions|
1. The employee must be able to move about 2/3 of the time and be stationary about 1/3 of the time. S/he is required to be mobile around campus for participant involvement/activities.
2. S/he must be able to converse with individuals on a regular basis with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret their needs via phone conversations, face-to-face conversations, or written documentation.
3. The employee must be able to utilize all programs on a computer independently and efficiently (particularly the internet, Word, and the student database).
4. S/he must be able to present information in an instructional setting and respond to questions from groups.
5. If applicable, must be able to tolerate frequent exposure to a wide variety of chemicals which are common to the industry. Must be able to handle and mix chemicals properly and safely; and wear appropriate gloves and other personal protective equipment.
